Diagnostics

When people are sick, they visit doctor, explain their symptoms and receive the appropriate care.

When our pets aren’t feeling well, however, treating them isn’t always this straightforward – especially when that illness or injury cannot be easily detected on the surface of the body. Add to this the fact that our pets cannot speak to tell us what’s bothering them and show us where it hurts, and we’ve got quite the mystery on our hands.

In these instances, we turn to veterinary diagnostics to help us obtain the answers we need. These tools allow our experienced doctors to quickly and accurately diagnose and treat our patients in the most efficient, effective manner possible. The sooner we are able to diagnose and treat your pet, the better the chances of a positive outcome.

The Holt Veterinary Clinic offers an extensive array of diagnostic services for the optimum care of your pet. Our hospital has with in- house diagnostic equipment which allows us to gather test results quickly. This is especially important for those illnesses and injuries for which a timely diagnosis is critical.

With our convenient in- house laboratory facilities, we are able to conduct the following tests as needed:

  • Serum Chemistry
  • Hematology
  • Serology
  • Cytology
  • Urinalysis
  • Intestinal Parasite Testing

We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.

For more in- depth testing, we have the ability to take x-rays and conduct cardiology evaluations in- house. In most cases, we can have answers for you before you and your pet even leave the exam room.

In those instances where we feel the advice of an expert is warranted, we gladly provide referrals to highly qualified, experienced veterinary specialists to ensure that your pet always receives the best possible care. We work closely with local specialists and the MSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital when special diagnostic procedures are required.

If your pet hasn’t been feeling well and you’re not quite sure what’s wrong, a professional diagnostic evaluation can help obtain the answers we need to put that little guy or gal back on the path to good health again as soon as possible.
