Dr. Hugh Fauser

Dr. Hugh Fauser

Born and raised in a suburb of Detroit, Dr. Fauser was lucky enough to have a mother who encouraged his desire to collect and make a pet out of any living critter he could find. Growing up with dogs, cats, birds, fish, turtles, hamsters, guinea pigs, and snakes helped him foster a deep respect and appreciation for all living things.

Dr. Fauser attended Michigan State University to pursue his microbiology degree. After receiving his Bachelors and Masters, he attended veterinary school to get his DVM. In 1973 he began his career in animal medicine.  After practicing for six years in the Lansing and Chicago areas, Hugh and his wife Inguna purchased Holt Veterinary Clinic in 1979.

Dr. Fauser gets tremendous enjoyment from working with people and their pets and fostering the longest-lasting personal relationships possible. He especially likes to see how a pet can improve the life of their owner. Medically, Dr. Fauser enjoys complex surgeries, dental procedures, and clinical pathology.

Hugh and his wife have two children who also attended Michigan State, as well as two wonderful grandchildren. They share their life with two cats, Patch and Monkey. Outside of work, Dr. Fauser enjoys reading, working in his garden, playing tennis, spending time with his grandchildren, and traveling to his wife’s native Latvia.

In addition to his clinic duties, Dr. Fauser is a member of the American Veterinary Medicine Association, the Michigan Veterinary Medicine Association, and the Mid-State Veterinary Medicine Association, as well as serving on the board of the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association for six years. He currently serves as the vice chair of the board of the Delhi Township Downtown Development Authority. Dr. Fauser has been active in the Holt Lions Club for over 20 years, serving on the board of the Lions of Michigan Foundation, and leading, along with his wife, five medical eyeglass missions to Latvia.
